The fourth draft of my work in progress is completed. I’ve been writing pretty much constantly for six months, so I’m going to take a break now before the fifth draft; the writing palate is in need of refreshment. I plan to write some more blog posts (as ever) and enter a flash fiction competition which is one of my goals for 2024

I’ve also got the final set of feedback from my beta readers. While it was really appreciated, sometimes the feedback was little less focussed than I ideally wanted. One reader simply said ‘the characters spend too much time in the yoga studio.’ That was a little hard to take since the characters aren’t in a yoga studio at all, they are in a community centre. And they aren’t doing yoga. They are learning to meditate.

So, I’ve decided it’s a good time to get some professional help and feedback. I’ve applied for a writer mentorship at the Queensland Writers Centre where I’ll be partnered up with a published author. Hopefully the professional writer won’t comment about the excessive time spent my characters (don’t) spend doing yoga stretches. That would be upsetting.
